EXPERIENCE - Bring to your studies renewed depth, purpose, and global awareness.

Over the two-week period students will visit significant cultural locations and design projects in two different countries, such as the Sagrada Familia, Palau de Musica Catalan, and Barri Gotic in Barcelona, and the Medina, the Djemaa el Fna, and the El Badi and Bahia Palaces, in Marrakech. Through these excursions students will gain insight into contextual and cultural history of the regions, as well as personal, community, and global issues related to design and the built environment.

Jan — May                     Classes at KPU Richmond Campus*       
May 1**                           Travel to Marrakech Morocco
May 2 - May 7**              Course sites in Marrakech (total 5 nights in Marrakech)
May 7**                           Travel to Marrakech to Barcelona,
May 8 – 16**                   Course sites in Barcelona (total 9 nights Barcelona)         
May 16**                         Travel back to Vancouver from Barcelona

**Travel dates subject to minor adjustments pending final reservations, but will occur around the dates mentioned.

Classes Offered

  • Students enroll in DESN 3100 - Design Field School
  • 3 credits Course -  starting January 2019
  • Classes are instructed by KPU Design Faculty.

Pre-requisites

60 credits of 1100 level or higher courses.

Note that no previous Design experience is needed to enroll in DESN 3100. All KPU students are welcome and are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must submit their online application and make their first payment of the $500 deposit by this date.
Please pay your $500 deposit directly to Student Enrollment Services or through Online Self Service by December 1, 2018.
