Leigh Tipper, Vancouver Island University, winner of the Fall 2022 BC Study Abroad: Stories from Abroad Scholarship

Study Abroad Destination: Norway

Leigh Tipper is a mature student who returned to school at VIU last fall. After having her two children and being a single stay-at-home mother to them, while also homeschooling, she decided that the best way to build a better future for them would be to go back to school. In four years Leigh went from struggling to find a home with them to now being in school full time and about to leave for Norway with the education abroad program. She will be bringing her kids with her and is looking forward to their big adventure! She currently studies History and has a deep interest in the medieval time period. In Norway, Leigh will be living in Bergen and learning all about old Norse literature and history along with early archeology.
