Jaimie Cryder, University of Victoria, winner of the spring 2019 BC Study Abroad: Stories from Abroad Scholarship

Study Abroad Destination: Seville, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Copenhagen

Jaimie Cryder is currently in the final year of her undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria. A love of nature and travel has inspired her to pursue a double major in Environmental Studies and Geography. Throughout her academic journey, Jaimie has developed an ardent interest in the sustainability of urban food systems. She plans to further her education in this area and hope to eventually have a career centered on cultivating greater sustainability in cities. Outside of the classroom, Jaimie enjoys hiking, yoga and sharing food with friends. In addition, she eagerly seizes opportunities to explore different parts of the world. Travel pushes Jaimie into her growth zone and has fostered her commitment to environmental stewardship. This summer, she will study urban sustainability in several cities across Europe. Jaimie is thrilled to have the opportunity to expand her knowledge while immersed in the subjects she is passionate about.
