Leigh Tipper is a mature student who returned to school at VIU last fall. After having her two children and being a single stay-at-home mother to them, while also homeschooling, she decided that the best way to build a better future for them would be to go back to school. In four years Leigh went from struggling to find a home with them to now being in school full time and about to leave for Norway with the education abroad program. Alec Weinstein was born in Victoria and raised in Campbell River, British Columbia. He is a 3rd-year student at North Island College completing a BBA with a major in marketing. Currently, he is studying at Université Savoie Mont Blanc in the French Alps. In France, Alec is completing a double degree program, with his French degree being a bachelor of Outdoor International Sales and Promotion. Tatu is a fourth-year SFU student majoring in psychology with a minor in health and counselling. One day, she hopes to work as a child psychologist or elementary school counsellor. Her hobbies are cafe hopping, thrift shopping, and going for walks in the rain. This year, Tatu was very lucky to have had the opportunity to move abroad for a study semester at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. Her current goal is to encourage other students from Vancouver to step outside of their comfort zone and take the chance to apply for their own study abroad experience!
