Your eligibility to apply for this scholarship is based on the following:

  1. You are currently enrolled at a BCSA Consortium institution
  2. You are currently enrolled in a short-term study abroad program or have been accepted into a short-term study abroad program between January - August 2019

Please download our application checklist and email the application materials in one PDF with the subject line reading "Stories from Abroad: British Columbia Study Abroad Scholarship Application" to info@bcstudyabroad.ca

Expectations

In return for the $1000 scholarship the chosen student will need to submit the following to be uploaded onto our BCSA Blog:

  • One 300-400 word blog post (with a photo) pre-departure
  • One 300-400 word blog post (with a photo) throughout the duration of the study abroad program
  • One 300-400 word blog post (with a photo) once the study abroad program has finished and the student has returned to BC
  • 8-10 high resolution photos (in JPEG format) upon completion of the student’s study abroad program. In an accompanying Word document, supply the following information for each photo: Image File Name, Location (Geotag), Caption
  • A short presentation at the student's home institution once back in BC

Application Deadline: Friday, March 1, 2019

These photos and posts will be featured on our BC Study Abroad website and social media channels. They may also be featured on our StudyinBC and BCCIE websites and channels.

+ Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program

Global Affairs Canada and the Chinese Ministry of Education are offering short-term scholarships to Canadians wishing to study abroad in China. Scholarships are awarded for studies, research, language studies or a combination of studies and language studies at participating Chinese institutions

  • Program name: Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program
  • Funding organizations: Global Affairs Canada and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China
  • Target audiences: Canadian students (college, undergraduate and graduate levels in Canada); Canadian faculty members and research staff at a post-secondary institution in Canada; Canadian mid-career professionals
  • Number of scholarships: Over 20
  • Duration: 4 to 12 months for students; and 8 weeks to 12 months for faculty members and mid-career professionals
  • Inclusions: Airfare, tuition fees, monthly living stipend, on-campus accommodation and medical insurance
  • Deadline: March 1, 2019

+ 2019 Taiwan Scholarship

The Taiwan Scholarship Program was established by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to encourage outstanding international students to undertake degree programs in Taiwan. Scholarships are available for Undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral programs. Upon validation of tuition and above fees, the MOE awards each recipient per semester up to TWD 40,000 (equivalent to 1717 CAD, subject to change).

Undergraduate Scholarship: a monthly stipend of TWD 15,000 (equivalent to 644 CAD, subject to change)

Master’s or Doctoral Scholarship: a monthly stipend of TWD 20,000 (equivalent to 859 CAD, subject to change)

  • Scholarship period: Beginning on September 1, 2019
  • Application period: February 1 - March 31, 2019
  • Deadline: March 31, 2019

+ 2019 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship

The Huayu Enrichment Scholarship was established to:

  1. Encourage international students (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao SAR students are not eligible) to study Huayu courses in the Republic of China (Taiwan);
  2. Provide them with opportunities to increase their understanding of Taiwanese culture and society, and to promote mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community.

MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) may last 3, 6, 9, or 12 months respectively. The duration of the scholarship is from September 1 to August 31 of the following year. If recipients fail to come to Taiwan for enrollment during the above time, they will forfeit their right to retain their scholarships.

Amount of scholarships: A monthly stipend of TWD 25,000 (equivalent to 1,073 CAD, subject to change)

Scholarship period: Beginning on September 1, 2019

Application period: February 1 - March 31, 2019
